Bo Qu

Mr. Bo Qu started his musical study at a young age, is a graduate from the Orchestra Department of Shanghai Conservatory majoring in Bassoon. He served in the propaganda team of the Beijing Military Region, then successively worked as the principal bassoonist and deputy director of the Harbin Opera House Symphony Orchestra (formerly Harbin Symphony Orchestra,HSO); the general manager of Harbin Lilac Concert Hall; the director and commissioner of the Foreign Cultural Liaison Office of the Harbin Cultural Bureau. Currently he is the Vice President of the Bassoon Society in Chinese Musicians’ Association, Director of China Association of Performing Arts, Vice Chairman of Harbin Musicians’ Association, General Manager of Harbin Concert Hall(Director of HSO).

Over the years, under the correct leadership of the provincial Party committee, provincial government, municipal Party committee and municipal government, he fostered international cultural exchanges for Harbin City while promoting original music and disseminating world classical music. From 2017, he dedicated himself into a reform process for HSO, initiated a International&Professional Model. In order to bring HSO into a higher level, he and the team not only has been motivating HSO’s own musicians, but also has been recruiting new members globally, thus more talented musicians could carry forward this hundred-years symphony orchestra to a brighter future.

Particularly in 2019, once again he led HSO to visit Russia (Novosibirsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg), Austria (Salzburg), Japan (Niigata, Tokyo), participated in the tour of Piano Concerto “Dream of The Red Chamber” in the sixth Novosibirsk International Art Festival supported by China National Arts Fund; the Salzburger Sommer Festspiele for the festival's opening ceremony at the official invitation of Salzburg Art Festival, Austria; the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the friendship between Harbin and Niigata. At the invitation of the operational department for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, he led HSO to Beijing to join the Thousand Musicians Assemble formed by domestic outstanding professional symphony orchestras from Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, etc, to participate the National Day Anniversary Performance held in Tiananmen Square on the evening of October 1, leaving a brilliant trail in the history of symphonic music in China and in the world. Through this way HSO has demonstrated its international influence after the professional reform.

At the beginning of year 2020, he led the anti pandemic leading group of composition to create a large number of original music works, such as "you are a beautiful city", "seize the day, live it to the full", etc.
